Introduction and who should attend
APIII is an annual conference designed for physicians, researchers, residents and graduate students interested in how informatics and imaging is transforming pathology and oncology. Industry-related developers, engineers, and marketing representatives also comprise a significant portion of the attendees. Prior knowledge of informatics is not required and courses are offered for individuals new to this field. In addition to the traditional focus on pathology informatics and imaging, a theme of this year's conference will be the similarity and possible integration of pathology and radiology informatics. See http://apiii.upmc.edu for the complete conference program.
The conference is jointly sponsored by the:

Agenda Highlights
Plenary Sessions focus on synergies between radiology and pathology, the state of Pathology Informatics Training and Communications in Pathology.
Pathology Imaging and Informatics Breakouts provide updates on current practices and technologies. These sessions http://apiii.upmc.edu/breakout/index.html offer opportunities to ask the questions that help find the answers to your informatics questions.
Informatics Courses include the APIII Beginner's Informatics Courses, the Association for Pathology Informatics' Advanced Course, and a Hands On Imaging Session.
Scientific Sessions offer scientific presentations in pathology and oncology imaging and informatics. To present at a scientific session see http://apiii.upmc.edu/abstracts/index.html.
Networking Opportunities with leading oncology and pathology informatics resources and companies. These resources offer a wealth of data and research related to laboratory information systems, clinical trials information systems, imaging systems, cancer registry systems, automated cytology systems, voice recognition systems, wireless devices, computer hardware, and other current technology.
Social Eventsinclude Awards dinner and a dinner cruise along Pittsburgh's famous three rivers.
