Project ManagementPathologists
If the pathologists don't want to do this, it probably wont get done.
Pathologists will usually agree to the project if the reports will be consistent with the traditional reports, patient confidentiality can be maintained, and there is no additional work will be required on the part of already stressed pathologists.
The most import people to buy into the project will be the chairman, the director of the division involved and two or three "power users" that will help test the system and become the system's champions.
There is one caveat - pathologists, in our experience, consistently underestimate the amount of skill, work, time and cost involved in these projects. Virtually all large IT projects uncover problems that were not understood before the project began. Never underestimate a project in the hope getting buy in.
