Clearly, data will move from LIS systems to the web-based reporting system through system interfaces. This can be the most difficult part of the system especially if you are planning to “improve” on the LIS database. We will discuss system interfaces later, in Data Externalization.
If you are using images, moving images from the imaging system to the web reporting system may involve changing image formats.
