A lack of standards to which developers could follow to create new systems (SNOMED, UMLS, LOINC, Medcin).
Technology is not ready yet (CORBA, Java, Internet Reliability).
Lack of legislation regarding CPR, electronic signature, data authenticity, confidentiality and data integrity.
Health care professionals are not accustomed to using computers at point of care.
Orders, notes and reports have traditionally been hand written by physicians will have to be typed & digitized. Physicians will have to change traditional habits
