Legacy Systems Model - Pathology, Radiology, Pharmacy, Admission, Discharge Summaries, H&P’s, anything that is done digitally gets placed in a central archive (like MARS).
Clinical Information Systems Model - Admission, Discharge, Order Entry, Bedside Notes +/- document imaging (medical records) are part of one monolithic system. Other systems are interfaced via interface engine or router.
Distributed Client Server Model System - Use Middleware and Application Programming Interface (API) to make legacy client server systems communicate.
