We invite your company to participate in the 14th Annual Advancing Practice, Instruction & Innovation through Informatics (APIII) Conference. This educational conference will occur September 20 – 24, 2009, at the Marriott City Center Hotel, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
APIII is an annual educational conference designed for world wide collaboration, technology and learning to come together in one meeting place. APIII offers direct interaction with physicians, researchers, residents and graduate students Industry-related developers, engineers, imaging informatics professionals, vendor representatives and many others interested in how informatics and imaging are transforming pathology, oncology and radiology.
Prior knowledge of informatics is not required and courses are offered for individuals new to this field. In addition to the traditional focus on pathology informatics and imaging, a theme of this year’s conference will be the similarity, along with the integration of radiology informatics.
APIII is jointly sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Biomedical Informatics, Center for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences, UPMC Health System Information Services Division, the Association for Pathology Informatics (API), the Association of American Cancer Institutes (AACI) and in collaboration with the Society for Imaging Informatics (SIIM).
APIII is committed to providing our exhibitors with a high profile at the conference. Exhibitors typically include producers of hospital and pathology information systems, imaging and microscopic products, computer hardware and peripherals, cutting-edge healthcare technology and software developers, wireless technology, internet-based companies and more. We hope you will consider partnering with APIII in bringing the attendees the most current cutting edge technology the world has to offer.
APIII offers a variety of marketing and sponsorship opportunities. Please see additional information regarding these opportunities enclosed in this packet of information. The APIII 2009 exhibit fee is $3,500.
This fee entitles two representatives of your company to attend all aspects of the entire conference.

- Breakfast, breaks and lunch each day of the conference. Monday evening APIII welcome mixer and Awards Dinner.
- A link to your company’s website from the APIII website

We ask that you consider funding a College of American Pathologist (CAP) Foundation Travel Award, for the amount of $1,500. The travel scholarships are intended to defray costs of registration, travel and hotel expenses for residents, fellows, medical students and graduate students to attend the conference in your company’s name. A representative of your company will have the opportunity to present the certificate to award recipients at the Awards Dinner. Funding a CAPF Travel Award is an excellent way to demonstrate your company’s leadership in informatics and your support of the future implementation of cutting-edge technologies.
We hope you will join us for what is an exciting and informative meeting. Please contact Wendy Frank at frankwm@upmc.edu with questions.
